shoppers looked on in horror as a gang of masked raiders carried out a shocking hammer raid at a Fylde jewellers.
Four masked robbers used a sledgehammer to break through the window of Leonard Dews on Clifton Street, Lytham – in full view of shoppers.

One of the gang turned and shook his fist at innocent bystanders as the hammer broke through the toughened glass.

Another raider reached through the glass and began grabbing rings and valuables worth thousands of pounds.

Seconds later the gang jumped into a silver Vauxhall Vectra, which was parked around the corner on Bath Street, and fled the scene.

The getaway car was later found dumped in Ansdell following yesterday's raid at 2.30pm.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Blackpool CID on (01253) 293933 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
