Crowds at St Annes war memorial on Remembrance Sunday

DETAILS have been revealed for Remembrance services being held this Sunday.

In St Annes, those attending will assemble at the pier car park, North Promenade, at 10.30am and walk through St Annes Road West and Clifton Drive North to the memorial at 10.38am.

The service at the memorial will be held at 10.56am in order that the two-minute silence can be observed at 11am.

In Lytham attendees will meet at Lytham Assembly Rooms at 10.30am and walk from Dicconson Terrace to Henry Street, on to Queen Street, then to the memorial at 10.45am.

In rural Fylde, in Kirkham, councillors and dignitaries will assemble at Orders Lane at 1.30pm. Those attending will walk through Poulton Street, left into Church Street, on to the Memorial Garden, pause at the cemetery to acknowledge the graves of the fallen, and on to the cenotaph.

At Medlar-with-Wesham crowds will gather at 10.30am and assemble at the war memorial for a procession to St Joseph’s Church, returning to the memorial via Christ Church.

The service will start at the memorial at 10.50am, led by the Rev Julie Jones. Coun Margaret Rawcliffe, mayor of Medlar with Wesham, will lay a wreath on behalf of Wesham Town Council.

In Freckleton, people will gather at Freckleton Church, Lytham Road, at 10.30am, before meeting at the cenotaph at noon.

Coun Heather Speak, Fylde’s mayor, said: “Many people will turn out to honour the fallen.”
