The centrepiece of the school has been has created out of an old boat on the site of the Ashbridge on Ribble nursery’s London Road, Walton-le-Dale base on the outskirts of Preston city centre.

The project has seen a former haulage yard behind the main nursery building completely transformed to provide the unusual early years learning facility - where young imaginations are running wild

Thewreck of a fishing vessel, by the name of Ardent, was rescued and transported from Fleetwood to Prestonon an HGV where it was completely refurbishedand transformed on site into the bespoke learning environment.

The pre-schoolers are having a whale of a time and to add to the fun, the new facility also boasts a new two storey beach hut classroom, covered play areas and adventure playground, as well as direct access to the banks of the river.

The facility also boasts its own dedicated River School Practitioner as well as early years teachers making sure the children really do learn through play

With an artificial turfed area and sand pit, the children can stay down at the river school in all weathers.
