Lytham Church of England Primary School in Park View Road has closed for two weeks due a significant number of staff and pupils testing positive for the virus.
It is understood that the school faced a critical staff shortage and took the decision to close after consultation with Public Health England (PHE).

Guidance from PHE states that a 'school bubble' has to self-isolate if someone in that bubble tests positive, whether it is a child or a member of staff.
If PHE regard the numbers testing positive within the same time period as significant, whether they are pupils or staff, then it is classed as an outbreak and the whole school must self-isolate.
The school is expected to reopen in the first week of December.
