Beauty and the Beast, the summer promenade production at the Duke's Theatre, Lancaster, commences. It runs until August 9, outdoors in Williamson Park.
Welcome to the Sticks (certificate 12A) will be screened at the Dukes, Lancaster. This comedy had the best selling opening of all time in its native France. The film retraces the misadventures of a postal worker who moves north for work.
Friday
Welcome to the Sticks (certificate 12A) will be screened at the Dukes, Lancaster.
Let's Get Lost (certificate 15) at the Dukes, Lancaster, focuses on the late jazz great, Chet Baker. Following the elusive nature of his subject, Weber went on the road with Baker from the West Coast to the East Coast to Europe.
Saturday
Wrea Green Field Day, 12.30pm start.
Terra Nova Choir at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool: The talented Terra Nova Choir from Whittaker's famous Dance and Drama Centre will present a magnificent musicals medley from the famous musicals.
Great Expectations, David Lean's black-and-white masterpiece adaptation of Dickens' novel, is to be screened at the Dukes, Lancaster. Pip's awkward scenes with Joe Gargery relate as powerfully now to themes of class, home, aspiration and snobbery as in 1946 and the mid-nineteenth century.
Sunday
The final day of Wimbledon 2008, when the men's final will be played.
Craft fair, Lytham Assembly Rooms, Dicconson Terrace, 10am-4pm. Refreshments available.
Monday
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is being staged at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool (until Saturday July 19). Bill Kenwright's production has enjoyed rave reviews on its national tour.
In the golfing world, Lancashire Boys take on Cheshire Boys at Bolton.
Tuesday
Northern Seniors' golf championship at Fairhaven.
