Thursday
Thingamajigz Children's Indoor Play Centre in Poulton is hosting an animal-handling workshop from 10am-4pm. Participants can get up close and personal with a bearded dragon, a tarantula and a giant millipede. For details call (01253) 883880.
Friday
Time is running out to enjoy Poulton Historical and Civic Society's photographic exhibition, featuring shots of significant historical interest in the area. The exhibition being held at the Poulton Library on Blackpool Old Road during the library's usual opening hours ends today.
Saturday
Disco Inferno: Guild Hall Productions take a rollercoaster ride through the glittering decade of flares and platforms with a new show featuring non-stop hits such as Celebration, Boogie Nights and Boogie Wonderland. Guild Hall, Preston; performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
Sunday
Blackpool-born Bill Ashton's National Youth Jazz Orchestra and Jeff Hooper perform a special 95th birthday tribute to vocal legend Frankie Laine at Blackpool's Grand Theatre today – using Frankie's original orchestral scores. Frankie Laine was a legendary American singer/songwriter who was one of the biggest hit-makers of late 1940s/early 1950s.
Anne Frank and Family Exhibition: Otto Frank's photographs of the lives of his daughters, Anne and Margot. The images capture the girls as new-born babies, playing with friends, enjoying the beach and on special occasions before the horrors of the Nazi regime. Manchester Jewish Museum, 190 Cheetham Hill Road, to June 25.
Monday
The start of National Recycling Week - and Guide Dogs for the Blind is asking people to donate unwanted mobile phones, foreign coins or jewellery to help the charity. Call 0845 603 9779 for details.
Tuesday
Tourism conference: A series of keynote speakers will address hoteliers about the benefits of the star-rating scheme to their businesses at held at Blackpool FC's Bloomfield Road stadium. Delegates will include representatives of Visit Britain and the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board.
Wednesday
Anniversary of the final journey of the Foudroyant ship, which came to the Fylde Coast from Southport on June 4, 1897, and anchored two miles out to sea. Just before 6am on June 16, a hurricane force storm caused the ship to break anchor. Drifting towards land, she hit the shore 600 yards up from Cocker Square, Blackpool.
