A WOMAN has been killed in an horrific rush-hour crash on a busy Fylde road.
The accident happened at about 5.15pm on Tuesday, on the A584, at Clifton, heading towards Freckleton.

Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended the scene where the woman driver of a Rover 25 – which was involved in an accident with a Porsche – was pronounced dead.

The man who was driving the Porsche suffered minor injuries.

Fire crews had used cutting equipment to get her free from the wreckage.

The road was closed following the accident. It re-opened at 9.30pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Fire Service said crews from Wesham and Lytham had attended the scene.

She said: "We used cutting equipment and it was a very serious accident."

Sgt Rob Gomery, who is leading the investigation, said: "A full investigation into this collision is now under way and I would appeal to anybody who witnessed it to contact police."

Anybody with any information should contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
