IN KIRKHAM, A-level students were celebrating yet another year of outstanding success.

At Kirkham Grammar School - for the third year in succession - well over 60 per cent of grades were awarded in the A/B category with over three quarters being C grade or above.
Pass rates remained high at over 98 per cent with the overwhelming majority of students achieving the grades required for their first choice university.
Three pupils - Christopher Box, Jonathon Jacobs and Rose Whitehead - celebrated the achievement of the grades required to take up their places at their Oxbridge Colleges while one student, Alex Choy achieved remarkable success in Mathematics.
Alex gained four A-grades at A2 level, alongside three A's at AS level.
Another candidate, Adam Calvert, was also recognised as scoring one of the top five marks in A2 Business Studies this year
Clare Newbery and Jennifer Patel amassed a remarkable five A-grades while Christopher Box gained no less than six.
Headmaster Douglas Walker said: "Once again we congratulate our students on their success, and wish them well for the next important stage in their careers. The year group has made a notable contribution to school life and we hope they have all benefited in their distinctive ways from their time here at KGS."
Over at Carr Hill High School, students were also celebrating another successful year.
Nick Beal, director of Post 16 Studies at the school said: "We've had some strong results with a 98 per cent pass rate and a 100 per cent
pass rate in 16 out of 19 subjects."
"There were also some notable performances from some individuals which we were very pleased with."
