Man in court after cocaine seizure
A KIRKHAM man has been remanded in custody accused of conspiracy to import £15m worth of cocaine.
Mark Seel Neville, 41, was one of two Lancashire men and a man from Cumbria who appeared before court.
The cocaine seizure is thought to be one of the biggest ever made on the UK mainland.
Cumbria Police discovered 140kg of the class A drug after CID officers stopped and searched two lorries at Harwich in Essex on Saturday.
The vehicles were thought to have come from Holland.
Neville, Darren Morris, 32, of Preston, and Peter Hannigan, 49, of Kendal, appeared at South Lakeland Magistrates' Court in Cumbria on Tuesday when they were remanded to Carlisle Crown Court on July 7.
Neville and Hannigan are also charged in connection with £10,000 worth of amphetamine found in Preston.
The seizure was the result of an on-going investigation led by officers from Cumbria Police's CID unit, assisted by Lancashire Constabulary and HM Customs and Revenue.
