Man on cocaine charge

A WESHAM man was due to appear in court this morning in connection with an alleged conspiracy to import £15m worth of cocaine.
Simon Jason Finlay, 32, of Park Lane, Wesham, will appear at South Lakeland Magistrates' Court.
He was charged by police last night with conspiracy to import the drug.
Also due to appear on the same charge is Phillip Grange, 54, of Park Valley, Not
tingham.
The pair are among five people in total - including a Kirkham man - charged in connection with the alleged offence.
Mark Seel Neville, 41, appeared at South Lakeland Magistrates' Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on July 7.
Darren Morris, 32, of Preston, and Peter Hannigan, 49, of Kendal, were also remanded to Carlisle Crown Court on July 7.
Neville and Hannigan are also charged in connection with £10,000 worth of amphetamine found in Preston.
The cocaine seizure is thought to be one of the biggest ever made on the UK mainland.
Cumbria Police discovered 140kg of the class A drug after CID officers stopped and searched two lorries at Harwich in Essex on Saturday.
The seizure was the result of an on-going investigation led by officers from Cumbria Police's CID unit, assisted by Lancashire Constabulary and HM Customs and Revenue.
