KIRKHAM and Wesham FC have today secured promotion in their first season in the North West Counties League.
The team enjoyed a 3-1 victory at Castleton Gabriels.

Kirkham and Wesham hit back from a goal down at Castleton Gabriels this afternoon to score three second-half goals (writes Howard Jones).

And with Chadderton losing 6-1 at New Mills (who celebrated the day as champions), Kirkham and Wesham made sure of promotion to Division One of the Vodkat NWCL for the start of next season with three games still to play.

Mattie Walwyn nodded in the equaliser for Kirkham after 53 minutes, while goals from Martin Savigar 63 minutes and Andy Richards 83 minutes secured the points and with it promotion against a determined Castleton outfit who were never outclassed and took a 25th minute lead through Simon Riely.
