RESIDENTS at a Kirkham care home have plenty of festive cheer – thanks to the police.
Thistleton Lodge was one of the recipients of a hamper handed out by officers which included booze confiscated from local youths.

The hand-out has become an annual tradition and a welcome gift to groups in rural Fylde.

Community Support Officer (PCSO) Annette Begg, of Kirkham Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "This is the fourth year we've done this.

"The recipients are always very grateful when they receive the hampers and it's always good to spread some festive cheer by distributing confiscated alcohol which would otherwise have been destroyed."

The alcohol, including lager, wine, cider and spirits is used as raffle prizes to raise money for charity or as gifts.

Police confiscated around 500 bottles and cans of alcohol over the past year from youngsters in Kirkham and rural Fylde.
