READERS have responded in their droves to our internet poll on disappearing Fylde.
You have been letting us know, in no uncertain terms, what you think of the fact a number of attractions and amenities have been axed in recent years.

Ironically, in light of the fact St Annes' swimming baths are set to be closed down in a cost-cu
tting measure, the facility the majority of the readers are mourning most is the loss of St Annes' open-air swimming baths.

Many readers also say they miss the greenhouses and Koi carp pool in Ashton Gardens, where a number of exotic, weird and wonderful plants once blossomed.

Everyone knows that managing the books properly is important.

And no-one is saying they want to see Fylde's council tax rocket.

But surely, somewhere along the line, there is a middle ground – one which allows residents to have basic amenities such as a public swimming baths?

As many readers have pointed out, have you ever heard of a seaside resort with no public baths?

Thankfully, a number of like-minded business people have got together and are currently discussing a recovery plan to salvage the pool.

Let's wish them every success in their bid and back them in any way that we can.
