A HOMELESS man appeared before magistrates charged with damaging a church door.
Homeless man Simon Frodsham, 37, of no fixed address, who is accused of damaging a Lytham church, refused to speak during the hearing.

Jayne Barty, prosecuting, outlined the case against Frodsham.

The defendant is charged with causing £100 of damage to a door at St John's church, East Beach, on April 16.

Presiding magistrate, Simon Bridge, repeatedly asked Frodsham if he understood or wanted to say something.

As Frodsham refused to enter a plea, the court decided a plea of not guilty must be entered on his behalf.

Frodsham was remanded in custody to April 25 by Blackpool magistrates to fix a trial date.
