A MAN fell from a bridge on the M55 this morning causing tailbacks for commuters.
The 28-year-old, who has not been named, fell from Rosemary Lane over bridge and landed on the hard shoulder just after junction one at Broughton.
Police were called to the incident at 10.15am.
Contrary to reports that he was hit by a passing wagon, police said he was not in collision with any other vehicle after his fall.
He suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital. His condition is not thought to be life threatening.
Police closed one lane of the westbound carriageway on the M55 while emergency services attended the scene. Traffic backed up onto the M6.
