FOLK of all ages gathered in the centre of Lytham on Saturday when the festive season officially got under way at the town's Christmas lights switch-on.
The fun began at 3pm when Blackpool-born S Club Juniors star Stacey McClean entertained the excited crowds in the Piazza.
The lights were then officially switched on by Fylde Mayor, coun Susan Fazackerley an hour later.
Other attractions included Father Christmas, of course, music and children's rides. Mulled wine and hot chocolate were handed round, too.
It was a Christmas story that ended happily, as just weeks ago Lytham Chamber of Trade feared there would be no lights, or tree, even, after the council reduced its annual funding this year.
