Michelle Howland couldn’t believe her eyes when she spotted in our sister title the Lytham St Annes Express that Andy Cunningham of St Annes Sports was offering the chance to take over the lease on the premises in St Andrew’s Road South for just 100 pennies.

Just a few weeks later, Michelle, 26, is making her first venture into retail with Twice Upon a Child, offering pre-loved children’s clothing – and she has big plans to make it a big community resource for local families.

“It is a brilliant opportunity and something I have always wanted to do,” said Michelle, who lives in St Andrew’s Road North, St Annes with husband Chris, four-year-old daughter Nevaeh and son Zakary, four months. There is a lot of demand for good quality pre-loved clothing, some of which might never have been used at all as children grow so quickly, but very often charity shops are the only alternative to buying new.

“I went straight into raising a family after university but have always wanted ti run a business of my own and this is the ideal opportunity. “

Andy said: “I hope the residents of Lytham and St Annes support Michelle in this new project.

“We need more shops like this in St Annes to create a lively shopping experience.”
