THE Lytham Proms ticket stampede has started.

West End superstar Alfie Boe was the first name to be announced last week for next summer’s three-night Lytham Green festival on August 3-5, - and there has been a rush for seats since the booking office opened on Friday.

St Annes-based event organisers Cuffe and Taylor have been well pleased at the early take-up of tickets for the classic night.

A spokesman said: “We are delighted by the early response to Alfie Boe. We have had twice as many ticket sales as we did at this same stage last year after we announced Katherine Jenkins. It indicates people want to make their arrangements earlier to avoid disappointment. Obviously most of our first week sales have been from the Fylde coast and Preston area but people have booked from all over the country, including Guernsey, Sunderland and Llandudno.”

Classical tenor Alfie Boe, best known for his starring role as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables, will be ‘coming home’ as his family live in Fleetwood.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be coming to Lytham Proms where I will be back on the Fylde coast and be back home and able to see my friends and family.”

Meanwhile music fans are eagerly waaiting the announcement of the headlines acts for the Friday and Sunday evenings of the festival.

Tomorrow is the deadline for discount Alfie Boe tickets, priced £32.50.
