A health club has scooped a top prize in a prestigious national awards competition.

The Health Club at Ribby Hall Village in Wrea Green won Club of the Year at the Ukactive and Matrix Flame Awards.

The Health Club’s duty manager, James Mitchell, said: “We are very proud of this award and to be recognised as the best club in the industry.

“This award means even more to us knowing that it’s largely decided on feedback from our members. We’re not resting on our laurels though, and are currently undergoing a £700,000 gym refurbishment to ensure we continue to be the best in the business.”

Winners are selected based on results of an audit and on-site customer satisfaction surveys.

Judges praised the club for the personable nature of staff.

The Ukactive judges said: “This is a large facility with a range of activities to appeal to all age groups. The staff are very customer service orientated and appear to know many of the customers’ names.”

The award was presented to members from the Health Club in front of an 800-strong audience of senior management from across the entire UK health and fitness sector at The International Centre in Telford.

David Stalker, chief executive, of ukactive praised the award winners: “I’d like to congratulate all our finalists who prove year on year just what our sector is capable of.

“The standard was once again staggeringly high and every winner truly earned their award.”
