A biker will follow in royal footsteps when he makes a gruelling charity ride across South Africa.

Jason Mugridge is preparing to embark on the 1,250-mile journey from Durban to Port Elizabeth, distributing HIV medication and carrying out work in impoverished communities.

The 41-year-old, who lives on St Leonard’s Road West, St Annes, was inspired to take on the challenge, which was undertaken by Princes William and Harry two years ago, after deciding not just to donate to charity – he wanted to see who his money was helping.

Before he jets off to Africa in October, Jason needs to raise £5,000, which will also support work done by Unicef, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and Touch Africa.

To raise funds, he is organising a Charity Comedy Night on May 21 at the Paradise Rooms, Blackpool. More details from Jason on 07717157473 or at www.jasonrideforlife.com
