Fylde MP Mark Menzies has congratulated an ‘outstanding’ Fylde care home after it was inspected by the Care Quality Commission.

As previously reported by The Express, the CQC found the quality of care provided by Starr Hills, in Ansdell Road South, Ansdell, to be outstanding following the inspection in November 2016.

Starr Hills offers personal care to older people. Set on two floors all bedrooms are single with en-suite facilities.

There were 36 people living at Starr Hills at the time of the inspection visit.

The service was rated outstanding for being caring and responsive, and good for being safe, effective and well-led.

Mr Menzies said: “This is a wonderful and thorough inspection report.

“We are quick enough to criticise when care falls below the standard expected – we must also celebrate excellent inspection reports such as this.

“The management and staff at Starr Hills should be rightly proud all their hard work and commitment to the care of others has paid off.

“I congratulate them for their hard work, and am sure it will continue into the future for the residents of the home and their families.”

A full report of the inspection has been published on the CQC website.

Debbie Westhead, deputy chief inspector of Adult Social Care in the North, said: “We found the quality of care provided at Starr Hills in Lytham St Annes to be outstanding.

“People who lived at the home and relatives told us they experienced exceptionally high standards of care. Staff and the management team had a consistent, kind and extremely compassionate attitude to support people.

“It was impressive to see the way that the ratio of staff allowed one to one support to support people following their hobbies which we saw had a hugely positive effect on people’s lives.

“The whole team should be very proud of the service they are providing.”
