A former Fylde coast depot revamped as part of multi-million pound housing project has welcomed its first residents.

The site, on St Davids Road North in St Annes, used to be a base for Fylde Council’s environmental services, but has been transformed into a development of 32 affordable properties, with a mixture of two, three and four bedroom family homes, as well as one and two bedroom flats and bungalows.

The project, between New Progress Housing Association, Forrest Construction and Fylde Council, has helped to revamp what had been an empty site for several years.

Eric Tamanis, executive director of business development and property services at Progress Housing, said: “We are committed to providing high quality affordable housing and we are delighted to have worked closely with Fylde Council and the Homes and Communities Agency to deliver this exciting scheme.

“I am really pleased that everyone is happy with their new homes and I hope they are all enjoying living on this wonderful new estate.”

The development has received funding of £1.5m from the Homes and Communities Agency and a contribution of £615,000 from Fylde Council’s affordable housing fund, as well as a further £368,000 for the transformation of the site.

Coun Cheryl Little, Fylde Council cabinet member for Social Wellbeing, added: “These are lovely homes that will benefit people for generations to come.

“I’m sure that people will be proud of them. They are a fine addition to Fylde’s housing stock and Fylde Council is proud to be associated with such a first-class scheme.”
