The occupants of a black Peugeot were unharmed but trapped in their car, and left shaken up, after hitting a deer that bolted in front of them.

Firefighters were called to Ballam Road in Lytham, close to Ballam Oaks, to free the occupants at around 5.45pm on Wednesday after the collision damaged their vehicle.

They searched the area after they arrived but were unable to find the deer, which had ran off, a spokesman said.
