After decades travelling the world, former business consultant Mike Greenwood is back on the local amateur theatre scene.

He is directing Fylde Coast Players’ next production, the comedy The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery. It’s the first play he has directed for the group since 1982.

Lytham-born Mike first left the UK in 1988 for South Africa and has since worked in India, Malaysia, Thailand, China and North America.

Now retired and living at South Park, Lytham, Mike has retained his memberships of the Players, which he joined in 1976, and Lytham Cricket Club. He is also a keen golfer at Fairhaven Golf Club.

Over the years he appeared in more than 60 productions with the Players, including Arsenic and Old Lace, Taking Steps and Rope. The last play he directed for the group was The Drunkard Or Down With Demon Drink, a Victorian melodrama, in 1982.

“I am delighted to be back directing for the players – it has been a long time,” said Mike.

Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery is at Lowther Pavilion from October 23 to 26.
