Court date for anti-fracking lock-on protest

Eight people who locked themselves together to protest against fracking at the Preston New Road shale gas site are due in court.

They are charged with failing to comply with a prohibited assembly police direction and bailed to appear at Blackpool Magistrates Court.

It followed a protest last Thursday at the Little Plumpton site and is the latest “lock on” where people chain arms together in metal pipes to make their removal difficult.

Amy Roberts, 39, of no fixed abode, was bailed to appear on April 10.

Darren Robertson, 45, of The Mede, Preston, was bailed to appear on April 10.

Steve Jones, 38, of Handley Street, Sleaford, was bailed to appear on April 3.

Barbara Cookson, 67, of Lawrence Grove, Liverpool, was bailed to appear on March 24. Eloise Taylor-Farley, 23, of no fixed abode, was bailed to appear on March 24. Isobelle Taylor-Farley, 23, of no fixed abode, was bailed to appear on April 3.

Susan Nightingale, 49, of no fixed abode, was bailed to appear on April 3.

Katrina Lawrie, 38, of Viscount Road, Wigan, was bailed to appear on March 24.
