Mum's race hate remark

Mary Broadbent then made a race-hate remark to an police officer of Asian origin when she was in the police station.

Broadbent, aged 36, of Summerville Avenue, South Shore, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated behaviour.

She was fined £40 with £50 costs and ordered to pay £30 victims’ surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Michael Woosnam, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, had been shocked when she was told what she had said to the officer and could only out it down to the drink.

She had been extremely concerned about her daughter who had said she was going to move to an address in Manchester with a man she had met on the Internet.

Broadbent had given up her job as a professional carer to look after her daughter and was worried as to whether proper arrangements had been made for her daughter’s disability issues.
