Raider stole OAP's late wife's ring

Lancashire Police are appealing for information after an engagement ring was stolen from a house in Blackpool.

The burglary happened at an address on Layton Road at around 4am on Friday, May 20 while the victim, a 73 year old man, was asleep.

The offender entered via a window and stole an 18ct gold diamond 
engagement ring which belonged to the victim’s late wife.

A man who is described as being between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build and was wearing dark clothing, including a dark waist length jacket, was seen running away from the property.

Police are keen to be able to reunite the elderly victim with such a treasured item and are now hoping the public will be able to help identify the raider.

DS Neil Smith from Blackpool police’s burglary team is leading the investigation . He said: “This ring is of great sentimental value to the victim as it belonged to his late wife.

“We want to do as much as we can to try and get the ring back and I would urge anyone with any information to get in touch with us.

“If you saw anyone matching the description around the time of the burglary, or if you have any information about the stolen ring itself, please contact the police as soon as possible.”
