A historian is calling on Fylde residents to share their memories of a long-running school as part of special celebrations for a landmark birthday.
Historian Peter Shakeshaft is calling on people to share their memories of Freckleton C of E School to mark the 175th anniversary of its foundation in August.
Mr Shakeshaft said: “I have been requested by the chairman of the governors, and the headteacher of Freckleton Church of England Primary School to write a history of the school to mark its 175th anniversary.
“I would be interested to hear from anyone who has any photographs and other documents relating to the school.
“All class photographs in which all, or most of, the pupils can be named would be particularly appreciated.”
Documents such as school leaving certificates, programmes relating to specific events in the school’s history and newspaper articles would also be of interest, Mr Shakeshaft added.
Alongside the publication of the book, it is hoped the school will hold an exhibition to display the materials and information obtained related to the school’s 175-year history.
For more detailed information a special e-mail address – firstname.lastname@example.org – has been set up.
Anyone with an item of interest can email the school, or if it’s a photograph, contact Peter Shakeshaft on (01253) 720852.
