A top trio is being recruited to spearhead the £5.9m restoration of Lytham Hall.
The nationwide search has already started with a series of interviews for three key full time personnel – a project manager, activity plan officer and a volunteer and training coordinator.
Their eventual appointment is seen as a major boost to the community battle to restore the finest Georgian mansion in Lancashire to its former glory.
The Heritage Trust for the North West has advertised the three new posts and chief executive John Miller revealed: “We have received a lot of interest and are currently short-listing candidates for interviews with a view to the successful candidates taking up the respective posts in September”.
The new project manager will be responsible for the three-year restoration of the Grade One Listed Building which was the ancestral home of the Squires of Lytham, the Clifton family, for more than 350 years.
The successful candidate – on a salary of £32,000-£35,000 – will have to ensure deadlines and budgets are met, and work closely with community groups, volunteers, contractors and a range of other stakeholders.
The Trust is also seeking someone with experience of events management to implement the Lottery Fund activity and interpretative plans for the hall and grounds, which has seen a steady increase in attendance figures each year from 6,595 in 2005-2006 to 25,010 in 2011-12.
The activity plan officer will be responsible for the care, presentation and daily running of the property and will also be required to occupy a flat at the Hall.
The third post is for a volunteer and training coordinator, who can recruit and train an army of more than 100 volunteers to assist with the delivery of the activity plan for the 17th century manor and 78 acres of registered parkland.
Work has already started on the ambitious plans to conserve and repair the hall – starting with extensive work on the hall grounds, woodland and gardens.
A £2.59m Heritage Fund grant was awarded in 2010 and a further £1m has been raised by local fund-raising and grants, but much more will be needed to cover the cost of internal renovations and the addition of a visitor centre
Mr Miller added: “The development of the hall will provide a major opportunity for the local community, and visitors to the region, to enjoy, use and learn about an historic house and parkland. .”
Lytham Town Trust chairman David Gill added: ” These key personnel will bring a much needed impetus to our plans to restore the Hall .”
