FYLDE’S Got Talent is back for a fifth year – and is set to boost the coffers of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Entries are now being invited for Fylde’s top talent competition, which culminates in the winner earning the chance to appear on the same bill as the Sunday night headliner at Lytham Proms in August.
Last year, St Annes singer Kurtis Reid supported Olly Murs, while in 2011, teenage vocalist Lucy-Ella Smith was on the same bill as Boyzone.
Now, St Annes-based promoters Cuffe and Taylor Management, who came to the rescue of the competition last year after the previous organisers were unable to continue because of other commitments, are looking for entries from performers in the Fylde borough.
Entrants must be aged over eight years old, have an FY or PR4 postcode and, in order to raise as much cash as possible for the RNLI, will this year pay a small entry fee of £2.50.
The competition is open to all types of performers – singers, dancers, musicians, magicians and comedians – all encouraged to take part whether soloists, duos, bands or groups.
Entry details are available now at www.lythamproms.co.uk and auditions will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish Centre, St Annes on Saturday, March 9 starting at 10am, with audition time slots given to those who apply online beforehand.
Space will be restricted so participants are encouraged to stick to their audition slot times. The entry fee will be payable on the door at the auditions.
The Grand Final will be at Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion, Lytham, on Sunday, April 28.
A spokeswoman for Cuffe and Taylor, which has promoted Lytham Proms since 2010, said “We are really proud of how successful this local event has become, it has almost taken on an identity of its own.
“We are constantly being approached by local talent who wish to enter the competition, as they all want the opportunity to play on a world class stage, alongside their idols.
“We are close to announcing the artist for the Sunday night, but as yet it is a closely-guarded secret.
“Needless to say, the winner will not be disappointed.”
