LYTHAM’S new Lidl store is taking shape – and getting ready to open early next month.
And the German retailer says there are still some jobs up for grabs.
The store is due to open on Thursday, August 4, and building works are progressing speedily at present.
A spokesperson the for the company said: “Staff have been recruited from the local area, however there are still some vacancies remaining so we welcome anyone who would like to apply to download an application form from.lidl.co.uk.
“The management team have been selected from existing Fylde stores which, in turn, has created further opportunities for employment across the Fylde coast area.
“We look forward to providing the local community of Lytham with a quality food offering and an enjoyable shopping experience when we open the doors in August.”
Work on the store started in Spring after the budget supermarket chain was given the go-ahead for the development by Fylde Borough Council.
The new store will open at the former Holt Jackson site on Preston Road.
Established in 1932 Holt Jackson was a library book supplier.
The company moved to Preston in 2009 and in November 2010 merged with Askews in Preston.
The new company was called Askews and Holts Library Services Ltd and the business run from the former Askews site on North Road in Preston.
The construction company building the new 17,500 sq ft Lidl store is Ireland-based Tinnelly Construction.
The spokesperson added: “We are expecting to employ approximately 20 staff, with almost all recruited from the local area.
“The development will be served by a total of 117 parking spaces, including 10 disabled and three parent and child parking spaces, together with three motorcycle and nine cycle spaces.”
