Lytham’s forthcoming pantomime has been in the national spotlight after it was revealed it is going to be a unique experience this festive season.

According to a new pantomime database, set up by the curator of the Victoria and Albert Museum and covering the 251 professional productions taking place around the country, the Lowther Pavilion panto which opens next Monday, is the only Mother Goose show anywhere in the UK this year.

BBC Breakfast carried a feature on the production, which is at Clitheroe this week before opening in Lytham for a three-week season, and writer-director Tim Lince said: “We are delighted to hear of our uniqueness.

“As the database shows, Mother Goose isn’t performed anything like as much as it used to be but it is a story related to financial hardship within a family which I feel is particularly relevant in today’s economic climate.”

Mother Goose runs at Lowther from Monday, December 9 until December 30 and will feature a rotating junior cast of 250 Fylde children alongside professionals such as Nick Wymer and James Edgington.

Ticket details from the Lowther box office on (01253) 794221.
