Man hurt in pier fall
St Annes Pier
A MAN broke his ankle after jumping from St Annes Pier.
The 49-year-old is believed to have climbed over the end of the pier and injured himself as he fell on the remains of the jetty.
Fylde lifeguard and coastguard crews were called to the scene at 2.45pm yesterday.
A spokesman for the Coastguard said: “The injured male had climbed over the end of the pier and jumped down, breaking his ankle.
“A 999 call was made, with reports that he had got stuck in the remains of the jetty.”
The man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
