Police are trying to piece together the movements of a Romanian student in the hours before he was killed in a collision with a van on the A6 near Garstang.

Officers investigating the death of 24-year-old Cosmin Cocora three days before Christmas are keen to hear from anyone who knows why he was walking along the road at 4.10am on Tuesday December 22 near to the Five Lane Ends junction.

“We are trying to trace anyone who may have known Cosmin and ask they contact us in order that we may learn a little more about his movements prior to his death,” said Sgt Tracey Ward.

Cosmin, who had been living in St Annes, was last seen in Preston city centre with luggage in the form of a guitar in a case, a black rucksack and a large black wheeled suitcase. The suitcase is missing and police are keen to discover what happened to it.

Cosmin’s family in Romania have released a tribute describing him as “a brilliant young boy, very sensible and full of love.
