A Fylde district club has named its new president for the coming year.
John Sharples, 67, of Banbury Road, St Annes, takes over from outgoing president Peter Farrow at the St Annes District Club in Clifton Drive South.
Mr Sharples, a former King Edward VII student, succeeded Mr Farrow at the club’s annual general meeting on December 6.
The new president said: “The district club is a long-established gentlemen’s club considered by its hundred members to be an oasis of calm in an increasingly hectic world. We have superb facilities here.
“Members can make use of the two full-size snooker tables, bowl on what is arguably the best crown green in the Fylde or simply put the world to rights over a glass of fine ale or a cup of tea.”
As well as the handover to Mr Sharples, long-time club member Steve Denny was named vice-president.
