Pedal power in shop window

Staff and volunteers at the Cancer Research shop in Lytham boosted the Stand Up 2Cancer charity campaign by just under £500 as they got on their bike clad in all manner of colourful clothing.

The goal was to cycle ‘as far’ as possible on a static bike in the window of the shop.

Manager Rebecca Andrew was delighted with the 196 miles achieved – and the interest it attracted from passers-by through the day.

“We had lots of people coming in to find out more and contributing cash which was brilliant,” said Rebecca. “We raised £496.23 and we are delighted with that.

“The fact the campaign had had extensive covering on Channel 4 the previous evening was great in terms of public awareness and the people who came in were really eager to offer their support.

“We had 10 staff and volunteers taking part, taking turns on the exercise bike in the window and all dressed up through the day.
