PICTURES: Success as fair raises funds to fix broken boiler

An autumn fair at St Paul’s Church, Ansdell and Fairhaven raised £500 to help repair the church hall.

Because of problems with the floor of the hall, the fair was held in the church and churchwarden Keith Turner said: “We are preparing to replace the church and hall boilers due to their age.

“Unfortunately the hall boiler has ceased to work while we have been waiting for permission from the Diocese to replace it.

“The lack of heating in the hall has subsequently caused a moisture problem, which has resulted in the wooden floor swelling and buckling.

“At the same time as this, water has leaked through the roof in the porch, causing the roof to partially collapse.

“Consequently, we need to raise as much money as possible to cover these unexpected expenses and amount raised at the fair will be a big help.”

Attractions included home made cake stalls, raffles, tombola and a bottle stall along with various games and competitions.
