A GROUND-breaking outdoor church service on St Annes Promenade proved so successful that it could become an annual event – possibly on an even bigger scale.
Praise on the Prom, centred around the town’s bandstand, was conducted by the vicar of St Annes Parish Church, Rev David Lyon, and attracted well over 100 worshippers.
Rev Lyon has long held an ambition to hold a service on the seafront and he felt the event, held in ideal weather, had gone well.
“There were quite a lot of unfamiliar faces as well as familiar ones, and it is difficult to tell whether they were holidaymakers or congregation members from other churches in our area,” he said.
“If the latter is the case, it would be good to possibly get some other churches involved in the event in future years.”
Rev Lyon added the youngest worshipper at the event was five months old and the oldest almost 90.
