Runners of all ages brought a splash of colour to the Fylde coast when they took part in the third annual Leg It for the Lifeboats seafront fun run.

The run between Lytham and St Annes Lifeboat houses raised around £2,000 last year as more than 100 people took part – and organisers are hoping
the event this year has smashed that total.

RNLI spokesman David Forshaw said: “It is an event which has proved popular from the off.

“It’s a run for everyone and an important fund-raiser for us – individual runners may set a time if they wish although walkers are equally.

Runners started at 11am on Sunday, with walkers setting off 15 minutes later.

A vintage bus ride took participants from St Annes boayhouse to Lytham, where they set off on foot for the return journey.

All participants were given a Leg It for the Lifeboats T-shirt.
