Motorsport students from Blackpool are ready to rally - debuting their skills at the prestigious North West Stages Rally next year.

The Blackpool and The Fylde College students have adapted a BMW Mini to meet Motor Sports Association standards to race at the event in February. Students have been rebuilding the car to get it race ready.

The College’s motorsport and automotive courses can now integrate rally, formula and engine technology and design into the curriculum.

Driver Mark Holmes, who competes at World Championship level, will represent ‘Team B&FC’.

Tutor Paul Higham said: “This is a massive opportunity for students.

“It’s unusual to see a Mini at a rally event but we’ve chosen to push the boundaries to showcase our capabilities.”
