Tickets are limited to see a host of musical acts during the seven-day festival at Lytham Green. X Factor winner Matt Cardle and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds take the stage on Thursday. Friday sees Boyband Lawson perform, and elsewhere is Mix Tape featuring Sister Sledge, The Village People, Earth, Bay City Rollers, Liberty X, Toploader, and 911. Bryan Adams headlines on Saturday. Garstang Show is packed full of entertainment for all the family, with livestock and horticulture displays, plus farmers markets and food demonstrations. Also featured are The Adrenaline Tour quad bike stunt show; Cbeebies presenter Rebecca Keatley and Mr Yipadee; Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling. The After Show Party starts at 7.30pm and features the Woodsmen and DJ Danny Lambert. Tickets for this are £10 and available from Almarice, Winmarleigh and Visit Garstang next to Booths.

FREE: Blackpool Air Show, Sunday and Monday July 7 and 8

The Red Arrows will grace the skies again at this year’s Blackpool Air Show. Planes announced to fly include the Typhoon, Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster Bomber, as well as the world famous Red Arrows display team.

Entry to the Tower Festival Headland, Promenade, is free, from noon until 4.50pm on Sunday and 2pm until 4.30pm on Monday. Air Show Village is open from 10am both days.

There are still a few places left for the half marathon, seven mile walk or Fat Bike Cycle challenges in aid of CancerCare.

Registration is from 6.30am, starting at 8.30am and 8.45am at Hest Bank for Fat Bike and half marathon, or Gibraltar Farm Campsite, Silverdale, at 8.45am.

FREE: Charity Dragon Boat Race, Sunday August 7

Families are invited to a day of exhilaration as dragon boaters compete for the winning title, raising funds for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, East Lancashire Hospice, Derian House, The Space Centre, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation, Cancer Help Preston and Galloways Society for the Blind. There will also be a fun fair, live music and refreshment at Preston Docks, from 9am until 4pm.

PAID: Rebellion Festival, Blackpool, Thursday August 5 to Sunday August 7

Rockers are invited to the four-day 20th anniversary Punk and Alternative Festival at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens. More than 200 bands, including Buzzcocks, Descendents and Peter Hook and The Light, will perform over six stages. With an acoustic stage, punk art, cinema, and merchandise this is every punk rocker’s dream.

The festival is open from 11am until 1am Thursday to Sunday.

FREE: Carnival Chaos, Wigan, Saturday August 7

Families are invited to Wigan Youth Zone and Hop, Skip and Jump, in Parsons Walk, from 10am until 5pm, for a day of fun. Children can enjoy the bouncy castles, a donkey derby, inflatables, assault course, wheelchair Strictly Come Dancing, live music and sensory play.

Wigan Athletic Community Trust will also host football camps for youngsters. The event is open to everyone of all ages.

FREE: Outdoor wrestling, Preston, Saturday August 6

To celebrate Preston City Wrestling’s fifth anniversary, it is hosting a free outdoor wrestling show on the Flag Market, from noon until 4pm.

Full of drama and excitement this match promises to be an adrenaline fuelled spectacular.

Brockholes, off junction 31 of the M6, is a hive of activity. On Friday August 5, is the Wild Families: Teddy Bear’s Picnic, from 2pm until 4pm. £5 per person, £18 family ticket. Saturday sees Heartbreak Productions present an open air production of Murder on the Terrace at 5pm. Tickets are £13 adults, £9 children. To pre-book both, visit www.brockholes.org. HandleBards presents Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet on Thursday. The all-female troupe will be using bicycles throughout the performance. Tickets £15 for adults and £12 children.
