Crowds flocked to St Annes Square for the switch-on of the town’s Christmas lights – oh yes they did!

Stars of the forthcoming Lowther Pavlion pantomime Mother Goose featured in an afternoon packed with entertainment and stood alongside St Annes Mayor Coun Viv Willder to pull the switch to signal the start of the festive shopping season.“It’s a great turnout and I was so proud to see the lights go on in my home town,” said Coun Willder.

“This is a wonderful community event and thanks to everyone who made it such a memorable afternoon.”

The switch-on, organised by St Annes Town Council in conjunction with the management of Lowther Pavilion, was preceded by a procession from the Pier led by Father Christmnas in his sleigh and featuring scores of schoolchildren with home-made lanterns.

A full afternoon of entertainment featured school choirs, Fylde’s Got Talent winner Hana Joy and performers from the Ormerod Trust and local dance schools as well as panto stars Michelle Roberts and James Edgington with another panto star Sally Naden as host.
