UN peace-keeping mission a success
The Weeton-based Arnhem Company were among a contingent from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment who returned last month from a six-month tour of Cyprus on a United Nations mission.
‘Operation TOSCA’ involved patrols around the buffer zone between Greek and Turkish forces with the help of international police and other military personnel.

Hide AdSome 250 regular and reservist soldiers from across the North West took part.
Physical training was carried out every morning during the tour, from military tests to sports events.
Major George Briscoe MBE, of the 4th Battalion, which also took part in the tour, said: “They all enjoyed the experience of the tour and more importantly the tour was deemed a success both in political terms and in terms of maintaining the peace.”
