Vintage delights galore at show

Rural Fylde is the scene of a host of attractions for all the family this weekend as the seventh annual Fylde Vintage and Farm Show takes place on the Show Field at Salwick Road, near Wharles.

A wide array of vintage and classic cars, lorries, bikes, motor bikes, tractors, land rovers, jeeps and military vehicles will be on display throughout Saturday and Sunday.

There will be a parade of vehicles in the main ring on both days, while the event will also feature steam engines and a variety of stationary engines.

Birds of prey will also be on show, along with farm animals including rare breeds bee keeping and a beekeeping demonstration, while a small fairground, craft and food marquee, food court, tractor rides and entertainment including Punch and Judy and the Wigan Ukulele Band will also feature.

Evening entertainment, inclduded in the day admission price, will feature Nico from Freddie and the Dreamers and comedy vocalist Roy Jolly.

A new feature this year is a Man Vs Chilli challange, which will see the contestants work their way through some of the world’s hottest chillies.

As in previous years, proceeds from the show will go to Trinity Hospice and Brian House children’s hospice and event organiser David Martin said: “We are looking forward to this being the biggest and best show yet.

“They will be great days out for all the family and we hope to see plenty of people there.”

The show takes place from 10am to 5pm both days and admission costs £9 for adults and £3 for children with family tickets available.
