TRADERS have given an overwhelming welcome to a promised purge on rogue parkers.
Police will spend a day touring areas of St Annes which have suffered problems with vehicles being left on double yellow lines and other roadside offences.
Business owners have long claimed that such infringements can bring parts of the town to a standstill at peak times and are potentially dangerous.
Uniformed police and community support officers, accompanied by parking enforcement wardens, are to target key areas of the town and hope advice and warnings will prove effective, although they also have the power to issue tickets if necessary.
St Annes Chamber of Trade chairman John Moxham said: “This is an excellent move and we hope it will prove effective.”
