LYTHAM’S magnificent Proms Festival weekend has been hailed a massive success and will be back next year!
Organisers, council leaders, traders and business owners are united in lavishing praise on the Fylde’s biggest music festival – one of the biggest entertainment events in Lytham St Annes’ history.
And the Express can reveal that the seafront spectacular will be repeated as a three-day Festival next year.
Organiser Peter Taylor, of St Annes-based Cuffe and Taylor Event Management said: “I’m thrilled with how it turned out. This started as an grand idea two years ago and this year’s Proms has fully realised it, bringing world-class acts to Lytham.
Mr Taylor confirmed that he intends to lead the Lytham St Annes business community in organising another three-night Proms in 2012.
He said: “We estimate that there has been a boost of at least £1m to the local economy.”
Friday and Saturday night star acts, Status Quo and Katherine Jenkins pulled in sell-out crowds of 7,000 each, while Sunday night’s headliners Boyzone attracted an audience of 5,000.
Mr Taylor added, “Sunday night was always a bit of a bonus. I’m very proud of what’s been achieved. The crowds have been amazing and the people of Lytham have been amazing.
“We have had people come from as far as Hong Kong and Singapore, so it has really put Lytham on the worldwide stage. Katherine Jenkins posted on her Twitter feed how well she was looked after in Lytham.
