A special thank you too to Carlla and Dorothy who helped make my retinue and me feel so special and beautiful.
The Carnival Committee worked so hard till late at night, even preparing Ashton Gardens in rainy weather.
In fact preparations take place all through the year to make this Carnival weekend happen. Next my thanks go to all those who help on the day from barrier men, to Community Support officers as well as those who help in the grounds and on the cake stall. Also thank you to all shops that provided drinks and snacks to us as we went past in the procession.
I’d also like to say thank the mums of my retinue and Elle Louise (the retiring Queen’s) retinue who have done so much. It’s been great team work and we were all thrilled to have a shared float, even more thrilled with the response from the crowds as we went past.
We felt that our float “We do like to be beside the Seaside” captured the spirit of St Annes and were so pleased that others felt the same.
Jewson’s were so kind to let us use their truck and thanks to Lee and Mark who organised it and to Kevin who drove it with a smile. Thanks also to Jump Leads for the tow bar which we’ll use for towing a float at other local Carnivals and Galas where we represent the town of St Annes.
Carnival weekend was so successful, enjoyable and entertaining and thankfully the weather stayed nice!
My retinue and I presented medals and trophies at the Charity Fun Run on Sunday morning and we had a Carnival Queen’s stall in Ashton Gardens running all day where we sold original art work done by the retinue and me and by my Aunt Hilary. Thank you to Alison, John and Elaine, Carlla and Craig for manning the stall.
People have already started making generous donations for my charity and I would like to thank Steve Mawdsley at Bairstow Eves, Hilary and Roger Pearson and Jose Gordon. Also I would like to thank Miss Sarah and Miss Amy of Clifton Academy for offering sponsorship or help in events I attend in my year as Carnival Queen.
Thanks also to Viv and David Thorley of the Local List for advertising and help with raffle prizes for the Ball, as well as to T and J. Hooley, tailors and dry cleaners, for help with my dress. I will be attending other Carnivals in July, visiting Residential and Nursing Homes following this and on September 17 we’re having a Carnival Masked Ball at the Monterey Beach Hotel. Tickets are £25 each and selling fast. They are available from Carlla Harris (01253-780170) and Catherine Rothwell (01253 737274). We’re also organising Fashion and Music on the Train and many other exciting events.
Thank you again.
