Michael Rigby grabs 7 for 20 to push Lytham up the ECB Premier League
Liverpool Competition EBC Premier League.
Formby 56 all out. Lytham 60 for 6.
On a day which made statisticians rub their hands with glee, Lytham beat Formby to move into fourth place in this Liverpool Competition ECB clash. A total of sixteen wickets fell for just 116 runs with only five batsmen recording scores of double figures.
Formby won the toss and against all expectations elected to bat. When firing on all cylinders, Lytham possess one of the strongest seam attacks in the ECB Premier League & conditions suited them down to the ground.
It did not take Lytham long to fully exploit them as a procession of Formby batsmen trudged back to pavillion.
Chief architect of their down fall was a fit again Micheal Rigby. The 21 year old returned the outstanding figures of 17.3 overs, 3 maidens, 7 wickets for 20 runs. Not surprisingly, this was his best haul to date in the ECB Premier League and a statistic he is uinlikely to better for some time. He bowled unchanged throughout the innings, demonstrating just how much Lytham had missed him during this damp summer. Only 2 batsmen, Liam Crilly (18) and Dutton (16) reached double figures.
Lythams reply was not much more convincing as ball continued to dominate bat. The three batsmen reaching double figures for Lytham were Dan Thompson (15) Guy Roberts 17 not out and Lewis Dingle 13 not who was promoted to the first eleven after scoring runs in the second team. Lytham struggled across the winning line with four wickets to spare and made the journey back to Lytham in time to see the final few overs of the second eleven match at Church Road.
Next Saturday, Lytham entertain bottom team St Helens Recs at Church Road. Stumps 1.00pm.
