FYLDE'S boxing sensation Scott Cardle is celebrating yet another victory this week.
Scott capped off a highly successful year after securing a gold medal at the International Round Robin Tournament held in Donegal, Ireland over the weekend.

The 18 year-old, from Lytham, was also given the honour of captaining the England team that lined up against champion boxers from Ireland, France and Germany.

Scott had been scheduled to box highly rated Michael Collins on Friday night, however the Irish champion had to pull out after failing a medical.

The following day, Cardle faced 69kg French Champion, Giovanni Gandon.

The Frenchman looked an intimidating figure in the red corner, however Cardle didn't stand on ceremony and set about systematically dismantling his southpaw opponent.

Cardle forged ahead by 10 points in the first round and in the second he had the Frenchman on the back foot with heavy combination shots.

By the third Cardle had stepped up a gear and punished Gandon with powerful left and right hooks that hurt the Frenchman, forcing the referee to serve a standing eight count on the French fighter.

Gandons corner signalled during the break that their boxer had taken enough punishment and retired, failing to appear for the fourth and final round.

Scott was lined up against Germany's Yassine Moussaoui on the Sunday, however the German camp withdrew their boxer after witnessing Cardle's performance the previous evening.

This gave Cardle his second International Round Robin Gold Medal in as many years after he won at the Cadet tournament in Dublin last year.

Scott is now looking forward to a well earned rest over the Christmas period before his next major International tournament in January, when he will travel to Lille in France.
