The big game in division one saw leaders Shovels face Bloomfield Brewhouse and come out on top 4-1 thanks to a Paul Gaskell hat-trick and a stunning Jack Errington strike. Barry Davenport replied.

Anchorsholme missed out on the chance to leapfrog Bloomfield as they went down 4-2 against FC Highfield. for whom Lucas Hargreaves(2), Robert Griffiths and Kieran Mulholland scored. Belle Vue moved up to fourth as a Sam Dyer brace and a Shaun Frankle strike gave them the 3-1 win against Wesham, Dwayne Greenwood replying.

BES Utilities moved 10 points clear at the top of the division two table after edging out FC Albion in a nine-goal goal thriller.

Lee Grundy’s hat-trick and goals from Danny Hadgraft and Dom Ritchie sealed victory for BES, with Callum Musgrove (2), Jordan Bullen and Nitisat Sirisom replying.

Highlands’ recent good form continued with a 2-1 at Metrostars thanks to goals from Chris Jackson and Lee Coker, Michael Morcombe scoring for the hosts.

Up-Rite Scaffolding won 5-1 at Kirkham Town thanks to goals from Sam Daniels, Chris Bardsley, Jacob Orme, Alex Louden and Liam Murgatroyd, Kevin Beig grabbing the consolation.

In the quarter-finals of the Berrys Beds Premier Division Cup, Luke Robinson’s hat-trick set Appletree Finance on their way to a 7-0 win at S Royle Roofing, with Joseph Howarth, Ben Duffied, Lewis Phillips and Samuel Witter also on target.

At the same stage of the division two competition, Rob Heritage scored a hat-trick and Ryan Willetts the other goal as King Edward beat Lane Ends 4-2, Steve Turner and Mark Leonard with the replies.

Garstang twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 home draw with Southport Hesketh in the West Lancashire League last night.

Behind after five minutes, the hosts were level at half-time thanks to Jonny Hothersall.

Garstang fell behind again but David Jack struck five minutes from time to leave them fifth in the premier division.

The WLL programme was again heavily affected by waterlogged pitches which kept all the Fylde coast’s clubs out of action last Saturday.

Leaders Longridge Town moved five points clear at the top of the premier division with their 3-0 win at Slyne-with-Hest, though second-placed Blackpool Wren Rovers now have a game in hand.

Euxton Villa strengthened their grip on fourth place with a 5-1 hammering of Lostock St Gerards, while Coppull United replaced Thornton Cleveleys in seventh thanks to a 2-0 win at Whitehaven.

The sole game to survive in division one was an all-Cumbrian affair which saw bottom club GSK Ulverston Rangers record only their second win all season, 2-0 at home to Askam United.
